Lucy Eglington was born and educated in the UK and travelled extensively before settling in New Zealand in 2003. Her arts education began in the UK and continues in NZ with foundation courses at Whitecliffe College Of Arts And Design, plus completing a two year intensive painting programme with Matthew Browne and Kathryn Stevens at the Browne School of Art.
Influenced by renaissance and classical painters, Lucy celebrates beauty and the ways in which even lavish or kitsch themes can commingle with darker ideas to produce work that is both beautiful and meaningful.
Lucy also undertakes portraiture work and enjoys and welcomes commissions. Her most recent portrait, The Cusp, was a finalist in the Adam Portrait Awards 2014 and was displayed in the New Zealand National Portrait Gallery.
Lucy Eglington has been represented by Parnell Gallery since 2018.
